No, not finished… yet. Next week will be the last, and we are coming up with a pretty big surprise! For the moment, we are starting to receive proposals for the cover artwork. Like this one, for example!

News from London: Transglobal Underground have finished the remix of Immagina. According to Peter, they have made a dub version of it and doubled its speed. But, hey: what kind of dub pulsates at 190 bpm? We are really looking forward to hearing it and finding out!

Meanwhile, back at the studio, we are trying to work out a sequence for the album. Peter suggested we employ the method favoured by Peter Gabriel:

1. write each song title on a small piece of paper
2. on each piece of paper make one or two little drawings associated with the lyrics and imagery of the song
3. shuffle the bloody pieces of paper around forever until
you are so exhausted that you would agree on any sequence, really.
4. done!

Stavo pensando a Onda, anzi alle onde in generale. Quanti tipi di onde esistono? ..quelle che ci passano accanto e che somigliano a treni buoni su cui saltare su. O le onde che non sentiamo arrivare e che ci sollevano lentamente fino a infilarci la testa tra le nuvole, e ci troviamo a doverele cavalcare per non cadere giù. Oppure tutte quelle onde che ci travolgono mentre indifesi e consapevoli inspiriamo profondamente per resistere sott’acqua sperando che passi presto. E quelle allegre e altissime che emozionano ..e anche se bevi un po’ non importa, ne valeva la pena….o quelle ..
Chissà cosa porterà questa nostra Onda…auguro a chi ci ha lavorato e a chi l’ascolterà… una buona onda.

After a sleepless night and a 6.00 a.m. drive to Milan, at 10.00 a.m. a fairly wrecked Peter and Lady J were in the Nautilus studio for mastering. There they were met by Italian mastering guru Claudio Giussani, who added the finishing touch to ONDA.

So is everything finished? Not quite. We are still missing the single track, Prendi l’onda, that is only at a rough mix stage. We’ll finish for real next week… we hope!

5,00 appena chiuso il controllo su Prendi;…ho iniziato a ballare, un po’ più scoordinata del solito dal sonno, ma non potevo proprio farne a meno! è prodotta benissimo!!
Peter sta impacchettando le sue cose, Andrea, Alberto e il mio occhio destro stanno dormendo…meno male che non devo guidare io.
Ho fatto altri dischi ma finora mai così intensi…per tante, troppe ragioni….è tutto amplificato: più lavoro, più stress, più aspettative, più paura, più soddisfazioni, più pressionne, più persone, più storie da raccontare, più grinta, più imprevisti, più tracce, più sorprese, più allegria…e sicuramente meno sonno.

4,15 ancora in studio; Peter ha appena aperto Prendi l’Onda per fare un controllo, questa verrà mixata definitivamente più avanti….non chiedetemi il perchè..è troppo incasinata la risposta.
Adesso dorme anche Andrea, qui nel divano, con Prendi a tutto volume…povero!

3,40 del mattino; stiamo chiudendo i mix ubriachi di euforia, stanchezza e tra poco forse anche di vino…no di vino no, solo un goccio per avere la bocca buona.
Alberto sta dormendo per recuperare un po’ di energie, non so bene a che ora ma prima delle 7 di domani mattina (oggi in realtà) dovremo partire per Milano, in macchina, per essere alle 10 in studio a fare il mastering e io non posso ancora guidare..quindi è bene che si riposi un po’. Io e Peter andiamo avanti finchè il fisico regge…per ora mi sembra di si.

Last days fever is high at Esagono studio. As I write we have just closed mix number 6, with 4 and a half to go (the half refers to Prendi l’onda, our single track, that we’ll finish next week). Racing against the clock here… Peter is entrenched at the computer, and Lady J and I help out as we can.

Lisa was here yesterday to record an English language version of Check in, and Medhin came today to record a little rap (in English, too!) on the same track. As if the mixes were not enough. Racing against time…
